For further information and booking details please see our workshop flyer 2011: New leafhopper species found in London The leafhopper Orientus ishidae was found new to Britain at Warwick Gardens, a small park in Peckham Rye. Photographs taken by local resident Penny Frith in August appeared on the photo-sharing website Flickr and a visit to the park in late September produced a single specimen. ![]() © Penny Frith 2011: Further sites for Zygina nivea Zygina nivea has been found on white poplar at several sites in Middlesex. south Essex and Surrey by Tristan Bantock during August 2011 and seems likely to be widespread in the London area. ![]() © Tristan Bantock 2011: Second British record of Fieberiella septentrionalis in Surrey A single specimen of Fieberiella septentrionalis was swept from grassland at a site in Molesey, Surrey during early August 2011 by Graham Collins. This species has only been reported once previously, when a population was found by Jim Flanagan at a site in Yorkshire in 2010, which had been recently landscaped, probably with imported materials. The two species in this genus are extremely similar and all identifications must be supported by dissected males. 2011: Second British record of Batracomorphus allionii in Surrey A population of Batracomorphus allionii was found by Tristan Bantock and Sarah Barnes in a single field at Chipstead Downs, Surrey during July 2011 and was associated with herbs in semi-improved chalk grassland. Interestingly, this species has only been found on woody legumes such as broom and dyer's greenweed on the continent. Ian Boyd has subsequently found the species on the Isle of Wight, also in the absence of woody Fabaceae. ![]() © Tristan Bantock 2011: New leafhopper species found in Surrey The leafhopper Pithyotettix abietinus was found new to Britain by Jonty Denton at a site near Woking in Surrey during June 2011. This species is associated with Norway Spruce Picea abies. ![]() © Jonty Denton 2011: Photographic atlas of the planthoppers and leafhoppers of Germany A photographic accompaniment to The Plant- and Leafhoppers of Germay - Identification key to all species, this superb new book again covers a significant proportion of the British fauna and includes 1,500 colour photos, as well as information on habitat, food plants, phenology and distribution in Germany. ![]() 2010: New leafhopper species found in Scotland The leafhopper Anoterostemma ivanhoffi was discovered new to Britain by Peter Kirby in south-west Scotland.
